The woman, whose name has not been released, is is stable condition after suffering near-fatal breathing problems, Brick police said.
Police were called to Eagle Point on the Metedeconk River about 9 p.m. on Saturday on a report of a woman missing in the water.
The woman went missing in rough waters and strong currents, prompting a boat's operator to call 9-1-1, police said.
Two police boats out of Trader's Cove Marina responded along with the U.S. Coast Guard, State Police Marine Unit, Brick Fire Department Dive Team and Brick police officers.
Brick Police Officers John Alexander and Eric Haugh located the woman, who was having trouble keeping her head above water. They threw her a life ring but she was too weak to grab onto it, police said.
Alexander was about to jump into the water when the currents brought the woman up to the side of the boat, police said. The two officers were able to grab her arms and pull her aboard, they said.
The victim was blue and semi-conscious, police said. She was taken to Hackensack Meridian Health Ocean Medical Center where she was treated for acute aspiration pneumonia and respiratory failure. She remained in the hospital on Monday in stable condition, Brick police spokesman Sgt. Jim Kelly said.
Brick Police Chief James Riccio commended the officers involved "for their quick response and preparedness.
